This is a good video for any time of the year. Remember how he came.
I would love your help naming this song. I’ve come up with a few names, but I’m not sure about any of them. Take a listen, leave a comment where ever you can.
My friend is getting married this weekend, so I wrote him a song… I guess that is what I do. I hope that we will be able to produce this song better for you, but until then, please enjoy a live take of it!
Introducing David…
I’d like to take a moment to introduce you to David, la poema’s new drummer. David has been a cool kid I got to know over the last few years. He’s helped out with the kid’s ministry I work with at my church off and on, slowly taking on more and more responsibility. It’s been great!
One night, after playing together, I asked Dave what he thought about playing for la poema. With his usual excitement, he let out an ‘I’d love to!’ And thus continued an excellent friendship and evolved into something I’m sure you ALL are going to love.
David brings in his style, the subtlety and thought that la poema has always tried to embody, and yet, the life and joy of Heaven we hope to promote while we are here on Earth. He likes to bike around the city, observing the architecture we find in the fine city of Minneapolis, and enjoy all the art we have here, the painting, poetry and dance. He’s also getting into photography, so we may end up seeing a few more photos as he finds a place here (wouldn’t that be nice).
If you ever want to have a good chat, or a good listener, put on the kettle and invite David for a cup your favorite tea. He’ll be sure to delight you with his company.
I got my camera lens today! And some of my first pics are of my little piano players. Excited for days to come…
I decided to grab my camera and record ‘Bring Joy To Your Heart’ off of ‘Waiting…’. I hope you enjoy.
p.s. I am playing a few shows this weekend, so it would be great if you would let people know about them and pass this video around. I would be very grateful if you would pass this video around and even more grateful to see you there at @J. Arthur’s Coffee
(http://www.facebook.com/pages/J-Arthurs-Coffee/121119301251294)
On Friday, Oct 28th. I’ll be playing with these fine folks at J. Arthur’s Coffee in Roseville, MN. I hope that we get to see you there.
Check out their new song…
I just wanted to let you all know that I’m interested in doing house shows, or smaller shows, this fall. They are really easy to make happen and lots of fun. So, if you are interested in calling me up and having me come over, let’s talk. I’m always excited about playing and having an excuse to get people to hang out together.
Let me know if you have any thoughts….

What a Great Time we’ve had out here in North Carolina so far!?!
Faith Building Missions and Life 90.5 graciously brought me out here to play with Jason Gray and Jenny & Tyler for a concert at Highest Worship Center. It was a great time singing Don’t Have to Go Far, Miracle Grow, Waiting…, etc with these new faces! I saw more than a few smiles, tapping toes and bopping heads. I always like to see that!
Jenny and Tyler are great people. They really put on a good show together, and they even don’t have to try and be showy. Great songs and great hearts for people and God.
Jason is amazing and always has good things to say. The dude has been traveling non-stop it seems for quite a while. He has some great new songs on his new album! And he played some of them there at the concert. It was some good stuff. Jason’s voice is so clean and good to listen to, ah! I enjoyed it very much. I think my favorite thing I heard this night was
‘Fear is easy, but Love is hard.”
Oh! I loved that so much. It is so true that fear holds us down so much, but it’s easy to do. Love is so much more beneficial, but it can be so much harder than fear.
It was good to chat with Jason a little bit during the evening. He has such a way about him. I hope we can pray for musicians like him, on the road, away from his wife and kids. Family is so important. God bless that man!
The next morning, Jenny, Tyler, and I lead the people in song and encouragement at Ocean View Baptist Church. It was kinda crazy. We ended up arriving shortly (like 3 minutes) before the beginning of the service, but God somehow has a way of working even in the midst of chaos. We got my guitar plugged in. Tyler got the sound right on it, and that was all the time we had to get ready. With all the apprehension we could have had, God gave me a peace about the situation. I can’t speak for J&T, but they seemed chill and Tyler graciously used my guitar, even joining me with his mandolin to play ‘I’ll Fly Away’ at the end of the service. God really blessed me through that time and, from what I heard from others, used us to bless the congregation. That is always my goal, so I’m glad that people were encouraged.
I had really great time getting to know Jenny & Tyler. They are ordinary people, but their the kind of people that you want to get to know. I even got to shoot a video for them, and translate a conversation we were having at a Mexican restaurant, Las Palmeras. I hope and pray they continue to bless encourage people to live well as they are doing. I know I have been.

What a great time I had hanging out with the crowd at Crossroads College in Rochester, MN. That was pretty great! Here are a few pictures thanks to ADA photography (Amanda Aucoin / ADA Photography / www.amandaaucoin.com). I want to thank them both for helping out la poema. It was great to be there!
Kye Kye was the band that was playing later when it was dark. They put on a great show and have some great music, if you like bands like ‘An Epic, No Less’ and ‘The Paper Route’, like I do. http://www.facebook.com/kyekyemusic?sk=app_108468622525037
Tay Wilson played after me. If you get a chance to check out Taylor Wilson’s music, I’d recommend him too. http://www.taywilsonmusic.com/recordings/

This week’s song, the last in the series I recorded while at Living Waters Bible Camp, involves much about forgiveness. What a wonderful thing, FORGIVENESS. How much trouble would we save if we would just forgive. Often it seems that the bitterness, hurt, and damage created by offenses only hurt the person who doesn’t forgive. If we would forgive, we would be stronger, we would be able to help people.
The coolest example is one that Paul points out, Jesus. When people spat in his face, kicked him while he was down, and ultimately killed him, he still had the integrity, patience and love to say, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” How cool is that.
How much more UNITY would we have if we forgave? How much more work done for God’s Kingdom would we be able to get done if we forgave? How much less divorce would we have? How many more kids would learn from their parents? How many more friends would continue blessing instead of cursing?
I simply hope we all can be ‘Forgiving each other as the Lord as forgiven you….’

Isaiah 66v2
(You can download the song from the end of this post or from the player.)
This was another verse in the series of verses we used for High School Camp at LWBC. It was a nice surprise for me. Most of us in church circles know Micah 6v8 as a good little song verse that talks about what God accepts and wants in a few quick words. But Isaiah 66v2 was a out of left field for me. And look at the verse, it says some really cool things for us to do and be:
2 All these things my hand has made,
and so all these things came to be,
declares the Lord.
But this is the one to whom I will look:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit
and trembles at my word.
There is such a sense of meekness that God is looking for here. God is great, and he knows it. He made all that we see (and don’t). Humility is such a great trait to have. We see in Philipians 2 how our Lord Jesus was humble to the utmost, putting others above himself even when he knew he was truly of better character than the others around him.
The word contrite is sometime translated ‘smitten’ or ‘lame’. It really points to an understanding of not being high browed. This is too often where we might find ourselves, thinking we are better than others or even God. Instead, knowing where our place is, that we aren’t God and we can take a view that we are lame compared to him, we end up in a place where we can listen, serve and be who we are meant to be.
If you tremble at God’s word, you will obey it. Respect in English is a funny word. It has a value of honor, but it also has a value of awe. And true awesomeness deserves respect. That is what our God is, AWESOME.
In light of all these great things, I put this verse to a fun tune in hopes that it would be easy to learn and fun to sing from time to time. My hope is that you can: Download it. Share it. Sing it. Play it. (and it will be memorized :-)
