Getting the Band Together.

Getting the Band Together.

I got my camera lens today! And some of my first pics are of my little piano players. Excited for days to come…

Yes, this is me making a fool out of myself. It’s for a good cause.

Life.
It is a beautiful thing isn’t it. Recently I’ve become a father to not one but two kids. Many of you already know what it is like to be a dad, but there is no way to describe it to anyone in the detail that you experience yourself. One week, it’s just the two of you, the next, you’re in the hospital bringing a person (or people in my case) into the world, to care for, to cherish, to show how to live, people who will imitate you, laugh with you, love you, cry with you, make you mad, cry at you, disappoint you, bring you joys unimaginable, push you to do amazing things you never thought you could, and so much more. It is overwhelming when you think about it, but it doesn’t have to be.
The thing that most amazes me is how difficult it is to maintain life. When my daughter came into the world, she was 4lbs 14ozs. That is not much for a little girl. She went right to the NICU and stayed there for a few days. I was amazed to see her, a wonderful creation. Here she was, a little beautiful creature, with all sorts of complexity to her, still developing and just now discovering what was on the other side of her mother’s belly. With all the crazy cool things that she had going on, I often think  about the people who think life happened by chance, and I’m saddened that they are of the opinion that this little wonder doesn’t have purpose. But she does. Chance, I think not. If anyone considers the amazing-ness that is happening right now in this little body, they can only come to one conclusion, we are created, and that means we have a Creator.
As a creator myself, I rarely do things for no reason. Even if the reason isn’t obvious immediately, I still have purpose. And so does our Creator, God. He has a purpose for each and everyone of us. We simply need to learn of him and his ways and he will show us the path of life. (Ps. 16:11)
I looked at my little girl trying to figure out how to suck, swallow and breathe, and that is often like we are in life. We don’t understand everything and we hurry through things, thinking we know the right way to do things. My daughter can’t learn from me yet, but we can. If we take the time to learn, we will be much less prone to suck down a bunch of air and fill our tummies with painful gas, or other things that aren’t what we need.
Let’s all take the time to learn from God, learn his ways, and get to know him. As when we figure out how feed on mother’s milk, we will be much happier when we feed on God’s ways and do things the way he planned for us to do them.
