First Days in NC

What a Great Time we’ve had out here in North Carolina so far!?!

Faith Building Missions and Life 90.5 graciously brought me out here to play with Jason Gray and Jenny & Tyler for a concert at Highest Worship Center. It was a great time singing Don’t Have to Go Far, Miracle Grow, Waiting…, etc with these new faces! I saw more than a few smiles, tapping toes and bopping heads. I always like to see that!

Jenny and Tyler are great people. They really put on a good show together, and they even don’t have to try and be showy. Great songs and great hearts for people and God.

Jason is amazing and always has good things to say. The dude has been traveling non-stop it seems for quite a while. He has some great new songs on his new album! And he played some of them there at the concert. It was some good stuff. Jason’s voice is so clean and good to listen to, ah! I enjoyed it very much. I think my favorite thing I heard this night was

‘Fear is easy, but Love is hard.”

Oh! I loved that so much. It is so true that fear holds us down so much, but it’s easy to do. Love is so much more beneficial, but it can be so much harder than fear.

It was good to chat with Jason a little bit during the evening. He has such a way about him. I hope we can pray for musicians like him, on the road, away from his wife and kids. Family is so important. God bless that man!

The next morning, Jenny, Tyler, and I lead the people in song and encouragement at Ocean View Baptist Church. It was kinda crazy. We ended up arriving shortly (like 3 minutes) before the beginning of the service, but God somehow has a way of working even in the midst of chaos. We got my guitar plugged in. Tyler got the sound right on it, and that was all the time we had to get ready. With all the apprehension we could have had, God gave me a peace about the situation. I can’t speak for J&T, but they seemed chill and Tyler graciously used my guitar, even joining me with his mandolin to play ‘I’ll Fly Away’ at the end of the service. God really blessed me through that time and, from what I heard from others, used us to bless the congregation. That is always my goal, so I’m glad that people were encouraged.

I had really great time getting to know Jenny & Tyler. They are ordinary people, but their the kind of people that you want to get to know. I even got to shoot a video for them, and translate a conversation we were having at a Mexican restaurant, Las Palmeras. I hope and pray they continue to bless encourage people to live well as they are doing. I know I have been.
